Mandatory Naming of Reports

We all know that reports must be named for the report to run. I have had calls and chats from customers asking why they cannot run the report and it always is because they did not write a name for the report. I wonder if we shouldn't have an asterisk or something similar.

Currently, on the report characteristics screen, we require the report name field to be filled in to generate the report. This requirement is confusing users. We would like to add a suggested report name in the report name field to allow the user to create the report. The report recommended name should be in the format below.
<<Report Name>> created on <<Current Date in MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM PM/AM>>
If the user can delete this suggested value and replace the value as if desired.

I am not running reports as much as my team does but as I have my own districts and run reports for them or for me prior to trainings, it is really problematic to not have the name show on the report. Since we have to name any report before generating, it would seem as if the name would show on the report.

Now that we are approaching the EOY meeting planning time and want to discuss campus data in the meetings, this can be huge. Since we run campus reports and use them in the planning discussions with district leads, the mandatory naming of reports and having the name placed on the report would make reporting so much easier for all parties.

I agree. Or at least add a pop up message that says "Report Must Be Named Before Proceeding"

I agree. An asterisk would call their attention to the field. They are so use to going straight to Preview and when it's not accessible they think that it's something wrong with the program.
